handcrafted organic goodness
Organic Quilt Company is based in the idyllic town of Hudson, Quebec, Canada. We opened in 2008 when Becky Stone melded her longtime love of quilting and her concern for the environment to create a line of luxuriously soft baby quilts and receiving blankets — all made with certified organic cotton. The business has grown; Lisa Savage joined Becky in 2011 and we now offer baby hats, bibs, burp cloths, all sorts of bedding — and there's more to come — but some things won't change. We are committed to creating handmade organic items that are beautiful, functional, and ethical. Goodies for babies are our specialty, but we also craft custom quilts and bedding in all sizes. At Organic Quilt Company you get what you pay for. While some companies claim to be organic, we carefully source and use the finest GOTS certified-organic cotton fabrics. Certified organic cotton does cost a little bit more but its long-term advantages are priceless. Here’s why:
• All of our fabrics are dyed with low-impact fiber-reactive or natural dyes, inks, or pigments (no heavy metals or pollutants here!)• All of our imported fabrics are Fairly Traded which ensures a safe, healthy, and responsible working environment — and no child or forced labour.
• Organic cotton is not finished with formaldehyde and, because there are no harmful chemicals used in its production, certified organic cotton is less likely to trigger allergies.
